Working On Social Media For Earth Hour 2009

As you may know by now, I’m working on social media for the Earth Hour 2009 campaign at the moment. I have been since early November 2008.

If you don’t know what Earth Hour is, check out the official 2009 video, from the global Earth Hour 2009 YouTube channel:

There are many YouTube and other social network profiles from individual countries as well. At this point there are 378 cities in 74 countries involved. The number of cities is growing daily. From now until Earth Hour itself,  8:30pm Saturday 28 March, I’ll try to post regular updates on progress and points of interest. Now that it’s February, things are starting to ramp up somewhat. We’re really happy to have Shepard Fairey  supporting Earth Hour this year. Yes, he’s the artist who created the imagery for Obama’s election campaign. Here’s an example of one of the new campaign images, on our Earth Hour Global flickr stream:

There is also a new animated video to come, I’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, feel free to follow Earth Hour on twitter. I am of course tweeting about Earth Hour from time to time on my personal Twitter account (jjprojects) as well :)

How Much Time Have You Spent On Twitter?

According to this site, Tweetwasters, I’ve spent 905,310 Seconds or 15,089 Minutes or 251.48 Hours or 10.48 Days using Twitter so far. Surely this wouldn’t count time spent reading tweets. I’m actually surprised it’s not much longer than this. Apparently I’m currently ranked number 82 in the world for time spent tweeting!

Using Twitter has become part of my work, so I don’t have a problem with this, it’s not time wasting at all. Using Twitter has been valuable for me in a number of different ways. How about you? How much time have you spent tweeting?
