Interesting that it crashes for you as well. I will uninstall it now and see whether it will work in a few weeks time. <br>Foursquare as a business seems to have more money behind it that is why I believe it be number one in the long run.

Yes, I've found that the latest version of Foursquare on iPhone crashes on me quite a bit. The version before didn't do that. As I said, I like the photos and comments features of Gowalla right now, but more of my local social media friends are on Foursquare right now.

Interesting that Gowalla has more activity in Germany than Foursquare. Yes, there's definitely more activity on Foursquare in Australia at the moment. True too, that it does take a while to update both. Sometimes I don't have time for that. No doubt there will be various services soon that allow you to update multiple location-based apps at the same time, and see activity as well.

Some good points. I am using both as well at the moment via the iPhone but I have a clear favorite. Gowalla. I am based in the UK and every time I am starting Foursquare and it does not find a spot it closes the app automatically again. So annoying. Maybe it is only my version but Gowalla is so much more user-friendly and has so many more spots here in the UK.

Most of my contacts from Australia and the US that are using one of the services are using Foursquare but I am currently living in Germany and Gowalla has much more activity (still not much). I was checking in on both but this quickly became a pain, especially on a 1st gen iPhone. I have currently decided to stick with Gowalla as the whole location based services are much more interesting with interaction (I already know where I am). I do like the 'mayor' idea in Foursquare and I hope that Gowalla integrates something similar. I am now waiting for more of my friends to show up on Gowalla.
